Gaming had the chance to talk to Christopher Bruce, one of the
developers at Cryptic, about the changes being made to one of the greatest
challenge in City of Heroes the Hamidon Trial There is a lot of
discussion about the flaws of the Trail in its current state, and the
changes that are to come with the Issue 9 release. In addition, he also
explains how the Trail will be implemented into City of Villains with
the new Abyss Zone.

The Firing Squad
had a chance to go over some of the nifty features of Issue 9 at this
years GDC conference. Their article includes some of the crafty things
that can be created with the invention system such as the previously
seen Tech-Wings as well as "flying boots". The article also states that
the invention system will be open to players once they hit level 10 and
even if players decide to not partake in the crafting and invention
system, the game will still remain the same for them, gameplay-wise.

There is a new update to the Test Server, which implements new changes to the game such as Base Rent Overhauled, Taunt, and Gauntlet corrections. Also included on the 13th and 14th will be a test for Double XP. You can find full notes of the patch right here.

Winter Event ReturnsSubmitted on January 7, 2007 by The Winter Event is back for another week of gifts and festivities! A cold front on the horizon brings back winter to the streets of Paragon and outlying Rogue Isles! On Monday the 8th of January, the Winter Event returns! Cold weather is expected to last through the week, ending on Monday the 15th. So put your scarves and gloves back on! Old Father Time will be back with presents galore, and there’s plenty of opportunity to collect the winter badges you might have missed!

The Sky Raiders are a criminal mercenary group that operates in at
least a dozen countries around the globe. They claim to be a legitimate
private military company, that provides a wide range of services to
legitimate governments, such as conducting reconnaissance and
surveillance, initiating clandestine military operations, and training
soldiers in special forces techniques. In addition to working for
governments, the Sky Raiders are also known to have been in the service
of transnational corporations (in particular diamond and oil
megacorporations).
